When should I choose a disc filter and when a screen filter?
AZUD HELIX disc filters are better for organic particles, algae and biofilm and for very fine filtration (down to 5 µm with the FT200 AA). AZUD LUXON screen filters suit inorganic particles such as sand and silt, and high flow rates in a small footprint – up to 1,065 m³/h from one unit.
Is the water supply interrupted during cleaning?
No. In HELIX AUTOMATIC stations the filters are backwashed one at a time while the others keep filtering. In LUXON filters the suction nozzles clean the screen while water continues to flow through the filter.
How much water does flushing use?
LUXON LCA uses 42 to 112 l per flush, MFE 112 to 280 l and LDB 16 to 180 l, depending on size. The AZUD HELIX device reduces how often disc filters need backwashing, and the air-assisted FT200 AA needs from 10 l per filter.
What pressure do the filters need?
HELIX AUTOMATIC operates from 0.8 to 10 bar and needs at least 1.5 bar to backwash. LUXON MFE and LDB need at least 2 bar at the outlet for cleaning, LCA 2.5 bar. LDB is also available as PN16. The FT200 AA also needs compressed air at 4.5 to 6 bar for backwashing.
Is a controller included?
LUXON filters come with a control unit (LCA battery or 220 V, MFE and LDB 220 V, 380 V available). HELIX AUTOMATIC stations do not include the AZUD FBC controller; we supply it separately – for 1 to 12 stations, powered by 220 V AC, 110 V AC or 12 V DC.
Can saline water be filtered?
Yes. The FT200 AA SW version is designed for water with 6,000 to 55,000 mg/l of dissolved solids (TDS); the standard version handles up to 6,000 mg/l. For LUXON LDB there are solutions for saline water and pressures above 10 bar.
What do you need for a quote?
Flow rate (m³/h), operating pressure, water source (well, river, cooling tower, process water), the desired filtration degree or the equipment to be protected and, if possible, a water analysis (particles, TDS, organic matter). From this we select the unit and prepare a quote.
