Why a data logger
Cost per m³, kWh/m³ and leaks – on one screen
Electricity accounts for 70–80 % of the cost of a compressed air system – even in smaller systems quickly €10,000 to €20,000 a year. The data logger shows where that money goes: cost per m³ produced, compressor specific power in kWh/m³ and the consumption of each line.
The mobile DS 500 in a case is the tool for energy audits: one week of measurement gives you an analysis of load, idling and leaks. The stationary DS 500 collects this data continuously and sends an alarm when a value exceeds its limit.

Data logger questions
Which sensors can be connected to the DS 500?
All CS Instruments sensors (flow, dew point, pressure, temperature, power, oil, particles) and third-party sensors with 0/4…20 mA, 0…10 V, Pt 100/1000, pulse or Modbus outputs.
What is compressor specific power?
Specific power in kWh/m³ tells you how much electricity the compressor uses per cubic metre of air. It is calculated from electrical power and flow measurements, e.g. with the DS 500 PM mobile.
How do I get the data from the data logger?
Via USB stick, Ethernet, web server or Modbus RTU/TCP. With CS Basic you evaluate it on a PC; CS Network collects it automatically.
Can the data logger send alarms?
Yes. Relays switch when a limit is exceeded, and CS Network sends e-mails and automatic weekly, monthly or annual reports.
